Aussie of the Month recognises and celebrates personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community, and promotes the universal values we share as Australians, such as fair go, mateship, respect and inclusion.
The program has been operating for more than 20 years, encouraging civic contribution through rewarding behaviours that reflect our responsibilities as community citizens, similar to the Australian of the Year Awards.
As the ‘younger sibling’ to the Australian of the Year Awards, Aussie of the Month schools have the opportunity to arrange a visit from Australia’s Local Heroes!

To make it possible for all Aussie of the Month schools and students to receive special messages from Australia’s Local Heroes, we have a library of video messages that can be played before your recipient is announced. Watch the below example from 2024 NSW Local Hero, Angus Olsen, and enquire today about accessing the full library!
