Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge is a national initiative from 2026 Young Australian of the Year, Nedd Brockmann. It runs on one idea Nedd lives by: get uncomfortable and do it for good. Students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, push through it, and raise money for Australians experiencing homelessness, walking away knowing they’re capable of more than they thought.
Since it launched, schools around the country have taken it on, and teachers say it’s some of the best work their students have ever done. Students turn up wanting to be there, fully in, taking on something they didn’t know was possible.
Now in its third year, your school can hold a Super Day on 16 October 2026, or pick another date that suits your calendar. Students can take part on their own, in teams or as a whole year group. Every registered school gets free resources to run the day, including a ready-to-go 1-2-2 challenge template, so teachers aren’t starting from scratch. Every school also receives copies of Nedd’s book ‘Fire Up!’ for the library, and the schools that raise the most win a visit from Nedd and PUMA NITRO shoes.
“We saw students encouraging one another, celebrating each other’s progress, and realising just how much they are capable of achieving.”
Kali Herb – Sylvania Heights Public School
Bring your school community together for a day of challenges. Students might complete a physical challenge, give up a comfort, or take on a team-based activity that encourages resilience, perseverance and collaboration while raising funds for Australians experiencing homelessness.
Encourage each class to choose a challenge that pushes them beyond their comfort zone. Students can set goals, support one another, reflect on their experiences and celebrate what they achieved together.
Following the challenge, invite students to reflect on what they learned about resilience, teamwork and helping others. Students can share their experiences through writing, presentations, artwork or classroom discussions.
Schools that register receive a dedicated resource pack with classroom activities, planning tools and promotional materials to make Schools Super Day easy to deliver. Find out more at www.neddsuncomfortablechallenge.com.
Registered schools will also go into the draw to win some incredible prizes, including:
